Mile 18

David and I have been spending a lot of time with our friend, Sander, south of Big Timber, Montana in the Beartooth Mountains. Though a handful of people had "brushed" a few problems here and there, most of these rocks were untouched until this summer.

Sander made an awesome movie about the weeks we've had here so far this season.

Bouldering Near Nye, Montana: A Short Video

A couple weekends ago, I went with some friends to Nye to boulder for my first time ever. My friend, Ryan has been bouldering there quite a lot, but the place has seen very little traffic aside from that. On the day we were out, we all got to do some first ascents, and climb a lot of cool problems. Here's a video about the day!

Pow-cember has arrived!

It sure feels good to be back on skis!

This winter is off to a banger start at Sun Valley.  We received over 60 inches in the last week to get the season rolling!  Town is electric and everybody is smiling and stoked!

I was lucky to get my Alyeska Jacket the day before the storm.  This jacket is bad ass!  I was totally dry while it was pouring at lower elevation and dumping up high. The Nordwand Pants performed equally well!  Thanks Mammut for keeping me warm and dry!

Enjoy this action from Sun Valley Resort from Monday.

Enjoy all the Mountain Niceness~

Latest Movie

Here's a little movie I started making almost a year ago. After putting it on hold for a while, I got myself together and finished it. Hope you enjoy!

12,000+ Miles in less than Five Months

Since January 9, we've taken dozens of climbing trips from Salt Lake City, including several to Moe's Valley, Utah, two to Bishop, California, one to Moab, two to Bozeman, Montana, and a "buttload" to Joe's Valley, Utah.

I'm about to leave Salt Lake City for the summer. I'll spend the first month in Ten Sleep, Wyoming trying to remind my forearms how to climb more than ten moves at a time. After that, I'll head to Sweden -where I'll hopefully get to boulder, trad climb, and sport climb.

More soon!

Joe's Valley Video

Same old story here- more weekend trips to Joe's Valley!

But recently, we've updated our camera to the Nikon D5100. So even if the climbers/ location is the same, the footage is much better!

For those heading to Joe's Valley, consider bringing $25 cash; Isaac Caldiero has just self-published a new, color guidebook featuring 300 "new" problems -for a total of 600+ problems.

Finally - A Break in the Rain in Utah!

If the old saying, "April showers bring May flowers" is true, then Utah is going to look like this next month:
... because the weather has been looking like this:

In any case, I had a four-day weekend last week that was almost completely squandered with indoor activities. We'd been hoping to take a climbing trip-- but the forecast from Idaho to Las Vegas, Rifle, and Ibex was rain.

But on Sunday, the sun came out for just a little bit. We checked the forecast and the webcams and decided to sprint to Joe's Valley for the last 1.5 days of this long weekend.

David made a video about some of the climbs from the short trip. You'll have to excuse the title and the poor footage quality. Not all climbing movies have to be cool. But it's a fun video to watch anyway!

Bishop Eye Candy

In the past few months, I've taken a few trips to Bishop with friends. Following is a video by David Sjoquist that includes a fraction of the climbing we did! Thanks Bishop for all the fun!!!
