Tour de Vermont & the Smuggs Ice Bash

A couple weeks ago I had the privilege of being invited to the Smugglers Notch Ice Bash.  I got the full tour of Vermont, did the annual dry tool comp at the Petra Cliff Climbing Gym, taught a steep ice clinic to an awesome group of people, and presented a slide show on my recent link up in Hyalite Canyon “the Big Dance.”  The slide show included a few pics of some recent international trips.
Included in the tour I had the chance to get out for a few days of Vermont Climbing with some good friends. We climbed at Snake Mountain and Lake Willoughby.  The day at the lake was an outstanding finish to the Tour de Vermont, with a world-class ice climb called the Last Gentleman.

Lake Willoughby
It was sunny and -5 that day. Byard Russel leading out.

All the climbing combined with incredible food, good beer, and general East Coast hospitality made for an unforgettable introduction to Vermont and the annual Smuggs Ice Bash.   Thanks to everyone that put so much effort into that event!
Last on the list for the grand tour was a quick visit to Mammut USA headquarters where I finally met a few folks  behind all the e-mails and ordering.

That's Eric behind the desk and Megan.

Thanks Mammut!
